RE: STRS Board Composition

For over 77 years, ORTA (Ohio Retirement for Teachers Association) has worked to protect the pension benefits of Ohio’s public educators. Representing active and retired educators, ORTA has communicated the needs of Ohio’s public educators related to the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS). 

It has come to ORTA’s attention that some legislators may be considering changing the composition of the STRS Pension Board in an attempt to make elected members the voting minority.

ORTA joins with other member organizations that strongly object to any move that will change the democratic composition of our pension board. Any attempts to alter this balance will be met with strong resistance.
