What's happening at your county chapter?


ORTA's county chapters play an important role in supporting Ohio’s retired educators through pension advocacy, networking opportunities, member benefits, and community involvement.

Some chapters offer classroom grants and student scholarships. Joining your local chapter is a great way to stay informed, connected, and engaged during retirement.

The Van Wert Area Retired Teachers Association (VWARTA) will meet on at noon on Friday, July 10, for a summer luncheon program and learning experience at the Van Wert campus of Northwest State Community College, 520 E. Sycamore St. The main entrance is on the west side of the building and parking is available in the lot across the street from that main entrance.


The guest speaker will be Dr. Jon Tomlinson, Dean of the NSCC Van Wert  Campus, who will share information about its programs in the Van Wert area. He will also show attendees a STEM Camp that is being conducted on the campus site and the activities being taught relating to coding.

The Jefferson County Retired Teacher Association met May 12 at the Riverview Global Methodist Church in Toronto.


The Jefferson County Retired Teacher Association met May 12 at the Riverview Global Methodist Church in Toronto. The meeting was called to order by President Gina Judy.


Larry Coleman informed members 3,538 volunteer hours had been submitted. Barbara Pritts reported on the May primary ballot and two House Bills currently being considered for vote. Connie Crawford informed members they had 80 second-graders tour the school House. It will be open for tours the second Sunday of each month during the Summer.

Allen County Retired teachers help local teachers bring hands on learning to students.
