On June 2, 2021, Edward Siedle requested public records from the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio relating to the teachers' pension fund, as part of his forensic investigation of STRS Ohio. After STRS declined to provide all of the records requested, Siedle filed a Complaint for Writ Mandamus.

On February 19, 2021, Siedle's attorney, Marc E. Dann, sent to the State Teachers Retirements System of Ohio ("STRS") a request for public records. This information was requested as part of Siedle's forensic audit of STRS Ohio in 2021.
