This spring, an election for one retired seat on the STRS board will take place. ORTA is assisting Elizabeth Jones in collecting signatures to qualify her for the ballot for this spring’s election to be held in late April and early May. Elizabeth has served as an STRS board member with distinction and ORTA is happy to assist Ms. Jones in collecting her signatures to qualify her as a candidate for the STRS board.
STRS Ohio requires at least 20 signatures from 10 different counties in Ohio.
Elizabeth currently has enough signatures from three counties: Hamilton, Lake, and Geauga.
She needs 20 signatures from 17 additional counties.
Attached is a PDF of Elizabeth Jones’ petition. Please help her collect the necessary signatures to qualify her for the election.
The directions are simple…
Print your name and sign the petition.
Put the last 4 digits of your social security number and your address on the petition.
Finally, place your county of residence in the last box.

Who can sign Elizabeth's nomination petition?
Eligible to sign this petition are all retired members, including STRS Ohio retirees who are reemployed in an STRS Ohio-covered position.
Who cannot sign Elizabeth's nomination petition?
Persons receiving disability benefits and survivor benefits are not eligible to sign this petition.
Active teachers are not eligble to sign this petition.
Nominating petitions must be filed with the executive director of STRS Ohio on or before Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 so please send your petition to Elizabeth ASAP.

From STRS Ohio:
Nomination of a retired teacher member candidate must be made by petitions:
Signed by at least 500 retired teachers of the State Teachers Retirement System who receive service retirement benefits, AND
Containing the signatures of at least 20 retired teachers from at least 10 counties wherein such retirees receiving service retirement benefits under the system reside.
Nominations must be on petition forms prepared by STRS Ohio; no other forms will be accepted.
Persons receiving disability retirement benefits and survivor benefits are not eligible to sign this petition.
