Tyler Baker running for contributing member seat on STRS Ohio Board

In spring 2025, STRS Ohio will hold an election for three seats on the STRS Ohio Retirement Board, including two contributing seats and one retired seat, for the term beginning September 1, 2025, and ending August 31, 2029.


Tyler Baker, a tutor at Goshen Middle School in Clermont County, is running for a contributing member seat on the Board.


Baker has requested to be included in ORTA's endorsement interview process, which will take place in early 2025.


The first step in the election process is for potential candidates to collect the required number of signatures to be placed on the ballot in spring 2025.


 What should you do?

  1. Print a copy of the petition. Electronic versions are not acceptable!

  2. Sign the petition.

  3. Include your permanent county of residence.

  4. Collect signatures from other contributing Ohio teachers. Print multiple copies of the petition if necessary.

  5. Send the petition(s) to Tyler Baker at Goshen Middle School, 6692 Goshen Rd., Goshen, OH 45122.


Who can sign Baker's nomination petition?

  • Eligible to sign are members presently contributing or those who have contributions on deposit with STRS Ohio.


Who cannot sign Baker's nomination petition?

  • Not eligible to sign this petition are retired teachers.

  • STRS Ohio retirees who are reemployed in an STRS Ohio-covered position.

  • Those who do not have an account with the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio.


The deadline for returning petitions is Feb. 28, 2025. STRS Ohio members will receive their ballots and voting information in April; they will have through May 5 to cast their vote. The winners of the election will begin their four-year term on the board on Sept. 1, 2025. Board members are not compensated for board service other than reimbursement for actual, necessary expenses.
