2008 ORTA Legislative Guidelines

Continue positive working relationships with legislators and staff to secure support for retiree issues.

Continue opposition to any efforts to combine the five Ohio pension systems.

Oppose any efforts to borrow any money at any time from the pension systems.

Oppose legislated mandates of investments and divestments by the retirement systems to promote social policy (i.e. HB151)

Study present age and service requirements as the minimum for full premium benefits .

Support legislation that will provide state income tax exemption for public pensions.

Oppose any legislation that would require retirement system funds to be loaned or invested in specific issues designated by the legislature or the governor.
