Hamilton County Quilt Block Story Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association was founded on January
7, 1947 by A. O. Jones and Benjamin Siehl. Since that early beginning our membership now numbers over 1500 retired teachers.
Hamilton
County Retired Teachers Association is very active providing a variety of activities and services to its members and the community.
The chapter meets regularly for luncheons and programs of interest including travel slides and local history. Members frequently
join together for travel, including cruises through the Panama Canal and the Mediterranean. Members accumulate thousands of
volunteer hours to hospitals, nursing homes and schools. The chapter's latest project is in cooperation with the Heritage
Village of Sharon Woods to move and restore a one-room schoolhouse.
A golden apple pin and honor life membership are
presented to members who have reached the age of eighty or who have been a member for twenty years.
